On April 19, 2025, both the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey and the Khalsa Diwan Society Gurdwara in Vancouver were targeted in coordinated acts of vandalism. Suspects, believed to be travelling in a white Dodge pickup truck, defaced pillars and signs at these sacred places of worship.
These attacks are unacceptable in Canada, a nation that prides itself on tolerance and respect for different religions. Practicing one's religion is a fundamental right enshrined in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. No one should be intimidated or made to feel unsafe in their place of worship.
We, the undersigned, strongly condemn these acts of vandalism and stand united against those who seek to spread fear and division among our communities. We urge all relevant authorities to take immediate and stringent action against the culprits and ensure that justice is served.
